The method involves ironing laundry pieces (23) by rotary drivable cylindrical mangle rollers (13, 14). The pieces are partially and directly dried by air jets supply that is carried out before ironing in a spreading condition with a temperature from 100 to 140 degree Celsius until residual moisture content of the pieces is larger than the residual moisture content required for ironing the pieces. The air jets are aligned perpendicular and/or diagonal to surfaces of the pieces. The flowing air is produced by blowing nozzles (26). The pieces are transported through processing stations (24, 25).
