The method involves transmitting teletext together with a TV signal in a TV channel in which data embedded in a standard teletext page are invisible for a user. The data are provided as data service data that are transmitted to a receiver for realizing a data service e.g. traffic message channel data service and software program updating service. The teletext page is provided as a dedicated teletext page for the data service. The data are embedded in a continuous section of rows with row numbers 1 to 24 in the dedicated teletext page.
