The urinal (1) has an upwardly open, trough-shaped retention basin that tapers towards a front end and includes a discharge opening arranged at a base. An elevated rear wall is formed as a concave baffle plate (5) and raised to a level at which a front edge (9) of the retention basin lies. The urinal is vertically mounted on a wall or a pillar. An edge of the retention basin runs horizontally in a front region or towards the front end, in an elevated manner. The retention basin has hydrophobic surface area including a surface structure.
