The method involves supplying a position-measured value by a magnet element (20) and a position sensor (22). An electromagnet (14) is controlled such that it exerts force on the magnet element. The electromagnet is controlled in calibration process such that a floating unit (18) adopts two positions. The position-measured value supplied to the positions by the sensor is determined as a calibration value. The electromagnet is controlled in operating process such that the floating unit adopts a floating position. An absolute position value (x) is determined based on the calibration value. An independent claim is also included for a device for floating regulation of a floating unit.
