The folding top (2) has two guide carriers (7) extended along a roof opening (3) at a mounted condition of the folding top. A cover carriage is moved in a guide (8) along the guide carriers, where one of the guide carriers comprises another guide (16). A cover connecting rod has a guide pin, which is moved into the latter guide along the carriers. A guiding path of a pivoting gate (18) is attached to a section attached to latter guide in an opening position of the folding top, so that a roof cover (6) is moved up to height of the cover carriage. The path is removed from the former guide.
