The method involves providing an output amplifier to an amplifier circuit. The power consumption of the output amplifier, is measured. An alarm signal, particularly a digital alarm signal is emitted, when the current lies outside a value range. The range is provided by a lower threshold and an upper threshold, where the alarm signal is emitted, when the current is greater than the upper threshold or is smaller than the lower threshold. An independent claim is also included for an amplifier circuit with one input and multiple outputs.
