The device has self-supporting sheet panels (10) longitudinally arranged on supporting elements (9) and comprising openings for suctioning air. The sheet panels comprise a hollow space on a rear side and photovoltaic cells (7), where the air suctioned by the openings is supplied to a heat exchanger (5) through an air channel (12). The heat exchanger is temporarily passed-through by exhaust air of a building. The heat exchanger transfers heat to a cooling medium, and a fan sucks the air through the openings and the air channel and blows through the heat exchanger.
