The circular knife (1) has a base body (7) provided for attachment to a knife shaft. The base body has an annular shape with recesses (13,14). Cutting rings (11,12) are arranged in the recess of the base body and have cutting edges (8,9). The cutting ring has an axial projection and the recess of the base body has an undercut, in which the projection is engaged for obtaining an automatic inhibiting effect of the cutting ring relative to the base body.
