The system has a vibration damping device (2), and a vibration detecting device (1) for detecting trailer vibrations based on detection and evaluation of measured variables (s1-sn) which represent driving-dynamic parameters such as lateral acceleration and yaw rate, of a vehicle and/or a tractor trailer. A critical velocity determining device (3) determines critical velocity (Vkrit) of the tractor trailer based on the detected trailer vibrations to regulate the damping of the vibrations, where the determined critical velocity is perceptibly represented in the vehicle for a driver. An independent claim is also included for a method for processing data for stabilization of a tractor trailer.
