The method involves providing a mixing table by allocation of random alphanumeric characters of a start-up sequence to each element of a basic group for forming two mixing groups with a number of multiple elements. An allocation rule is provided, and the table is stored in a memory element. The character of the start-up sequence is replaced by an alphanumeric substitute character according to the allocation rule. The substitute character is associated with the random alphanumeric characters within one mixing group in a preset linking rule. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for retrieval of a preset access code from preset alphanumeric characters (2) a device for executing an encoding method and/or a retrieval method (3) a computer program product stored on a computer-readable medium to execute an encoding method and/or a retrieval method.
