The method involves generating signal sample values representing charge measured during signal measurement part of a measurement cycle, and comparing the signal sample values of a measurement burst with a determined range of accepted values between a determined maximum and a determined minimum value. One of the signal sample values outside the determined accepted range is processed, so that the presence of a body i.e. user's finger (20), is determined from a change in the value of the signal samples which are within the determined accepted range. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an apparatus for sensing presence of a body (2) a touch sensitive control panel.
