The method involves steering steerable wheels of a vehicle (2) in a direction (R) for driving out of a parked position in case a driving direction is forward. The wheels are steered opposite to the direction (R) in case the driving direction is backwards. A parking-out corner point (A1) is defined during beginning of a parking-out process, which is accomplished based on the definition of the corner point. The corner point is determined in dependence of a vehicle geometry and a distance value, and the driving way is determined in dependence of the corner point. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating a parking steering assistance system of a vehicle.
