The method involves recording heart tones occurred during a cardiac cycle of a heart of a patient (P). Temporal occurrence of heart tones is determined. A resting phase of the heart is identified in the cardiac cycle of the heart, based on the determined temporal occurrence of heart tones. A time slot for acquisition of image information of heart in the identified resting phase is determined. The determined time slot is provided as a receiving parameter of an imaging device (4) e.g. X-ray computer tomography device, for receiving the image information of the heart of the patient. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for determining a resting phase of a heart of a patient for producing an image of the heart of the patient, comprising a computing device.
