The device (1) has a detection unit provided with a contactless sensor (5) e.g. omnidirectional camera, and an information processing unit (6) differentiating objects and a person approaching a vehicle. The processing unit obtains information about the person approaching the vehicle based on a signal of the sensor. The processing unit detects and/or stores anthropometric data (h1-h3) and processes the data for adjusting a driver seat, a steering wheel, an external mirror and an internal mirror. The detection unit has an optical system (7) e.g. charge-coupled device-chip, with a mirror.
