The system i.e. Infotainment system (10) has a storage component (13) for storing character strings (14, 14'), and a reading device (16) for producing image data (28) that represents the character string (14) in a language. A control device (12) is provided for displaying the character strings, an image data (30) on a display screen (11). A lay-out module (18) combines the character strings and the image data to a line item (32) and to adjust one of parameters (29, 31) e.g. orientation direction and relative position, in dependent of the language of the character string (14) and image data. The text is transmitted via a Universal serial busin a memory. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a display device.
