The method involves inserting the recess in clamping areas (6a,6b) of a workpiece (2) by clamped processing. The recess is served as coupling receptacle for positive-fit clamping of the workpiece. The workpiece is clamped between the clamping jaws (4a,4b) such that a coupling protrusion (9) is engaged in the coupling receptacle. The coupling protrusion is provided at the clamping jaws corresponding with the clamping areas. An independent claim is also included for a clamping device with a rod.
