The device (1) has a hollow cylindrical body (8) with a receiving opening (4) for receiving a bottle (10), where a rotary disk (3) is located in interior of the body for moving the bottle. The rotary disk is diagonally connected to a drive shaft (7) and/or the rotary disk includes a diagonal surface. The body includes cooling fins at an outer circumference side. A stirrer is provided for stirring liquid i.e. water, to be cooled. A ring gap between the bottle and an inner wall of the body exhibits a volume that corresponds to standard filling volume of the bottle. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling contents of a bottle.
