The casing (10) has a surface including sections and mounting surfaces (14, 42) that has boreholes. The surface is coated with a non-corrosive and/or anti-adhesive coating i.e. polymer. Each section is convexly curved along a surface curve. The curve is formed as a section pattern of a virtual normal plane pertinent to a point of the section. The mounting surfaces are covered by a cover (20) whose surface turned away from the casing corresponds to the sections. Recesses (32, 34) are introduced into an output side (30). A drive side (50) has a third mounting surface for mounting a motor. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a gear casing.
