A power source (18) is attached to the secondary winding, and supplies an alternating current with an adjustable output frequency and output amplitude in the secondary winding. The transformer includes a ring-shaped core (20) with an air gap, where the primary winding and secondary winding are wound on the ring-shaped core. The secondary winding includes coils that are higher than that of the primary winding coils. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for operating a line termination device (2) a device for contact-less line transmission and data transmission.
