PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a solid state laser medium or a nonlinear optical medium using an optical path constructed by multiple reflection by three reflection faces and capable of being used for a miniature high output solid state laser apparatus.;SOLUTION: The optical path of the solid state laser medium is an optical path constructed by multiple reflection. To be concrete, when a face from which incident light is first reflected is assumed to be a face C, a face next reflected is assumed to be a face B, and a remaining face assumed to be a face A, the optical path is an optical path of light reflected sequentially by an arrangement of repeating the face C, face B, face C, face A, and face C as a unit. Further, when angles facing the face A, face B, and face C are assumed to be an angle A, an angle B, and an angle C, respectively, the angle of the angle C is made larger than the angles of the angle A and the angle B. Furthermore, the reflection of light from the face C is total reflection, and excitation light is incident from the face C. Alternatively, in order to induce a nonlinear optical effect instead of the solid state laser medium there is used a slab type nonlinear optical element having the same shape as that of the solid state laser medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
