It is intended to provide a method of culturing small hepatocytes which comprises culturing the small hepatocytes in the presence of a carrier having hyaluronic acid adhering to the surface thereof and/or a carrier having hyaluronic acid as the main component; and a method of culturing small hepatocytes which comprises culturing the small hepatocytes in the presence of a carrier having hyaluronic acid adhering to the surface thereof and/or a carrier having hyaluronic acid as the main component, and separating cells adhering to hyaluronic acid from cells not adhering to hyaluronic acid.
