The invention is concerned with means and methods for improving the development and/or maturation of eggs and/or sperm in fish using hormone administration comprising providing said fish with cells producing said hormone. Preferred hormones are fertility hormones such as luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)or chorionic gonadotropin (CG) or a functional part, derivative and/or analogue thereof.
