The present invention relates to the use of a recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) for the manufacture of a medicament for reducing the immune response to the rAAV on administration of the medicament to a skeletal muscle cell, the rAAV being substantially free of contamination with helper virus. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the rAAV are also described.
