The method involves choosing a direction i.e. aircraft sight line, fixed with respect to a structure of an aircraft i.e. airplane, and a structural element e.g. chair, fixed with respect to the structure of the aircraft. Angular gaps i.e. positioning errors, between a theoretical sight line (12) of corresponding equipment e.g. head-up display device (5), and the aircraft sight line are determined for equipment supports e.g. head-up display support. A correction operation is carried out using the positioning errors to eliminate the positioning errors.
