The method involves calculating a value for each of a set of sub assembly of elements constituted of equipments such as line replaceable units, or physical links in breakdown, where the value is an estimation of maintenance time related to repairing of the sub assembly of elements. Another value for each sub assembly of the elements is calculated, where the latter value is a representation of a compromise between the estimation of the maintenance time and default probability of the sub assembly of elements. A set of equipments designated by order of latter decreasing value is sorted. An independent claim is also included for a system for maintaining a set of elements connected in networks, where the elements are being equipments or physical links.
