The device has a false pavilion (10) made of rigid material, where the false pavilion closes an opening (2) of a sliding roof during painting operation of a vehicle and avoids pollution of paint resting on a body of the vehicle. The false pavilion includes outer skin (11) and a liner (12) carrying a support unit (13) e.g. abutment, and a locking unit on the vehicle body. The locking unit is constituted by a locking system (14) on a roof arch (15). An independent claim is also included for a method for realizing painting of a pavilion of a vehicle.
