In a thermal insulation panel (I), based on natural fibers (II), including a fibrous structure forming a 3-dimensional network for trapping and ensuring bonding of the natural fibers, the fibrous structure is formed from thermofusible composite fibers (III) based on biopolymers. An independent claim is included for the production of (I), by (a) blending the natural fibers (II) and thermofusible composite fibers (III) in a predetermined ratio, (b) depositing the fiber blend as a sheet or board of predetermined thickness and (c) heat treating by increasing the temperature to a predetermined value causing thermal adhesion of (III) at their points of contact and trapping of (II) in a consolidated fibrous structure.
