The method involves receiving a digital data stream comprising a set of services under the form of multi protocol encapsulation data sections conformed in bursts, and detecting the different services transmitted in a stream. The bursts are detected as the constituting sections. A color of each detected burst is determined according to extracted criteria. The detected bursts are displayed on a service time line according to receiving mode of the burst section, where the burst is displayed in the determined color. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling transmission of a digital data stream.
