The present invention relates to an acrolein polymer containing renewable carbon according to ASTM D6866-06, and to its preparation process comprising a first step of dehydration of glycerol from an aqueous glycerol solution in the presence of an acid catalyst, followed by polymerization of the product obtained in the presence of an ionic catalyst or a free radical initiator. The polymer according to the invention has many applications in the fields of animal health, antibiotics, disinfection and sterilization, cosmetics, drilling muds, paints and inks, the paper and textile industry, and responds to some sustainable development concerns.
