The system (10) has wiper blades (14) i.e. flat blades, each comprising a wiping strip of glass panel (12). The blades are movably mounted relative to the panel around a vertical axle (A), between a rest position and an extreme sweeping position. A cleaning liquid spray system for cleaning the panel includes a cleaning liquid spray nozzle (18) for spraying the liquid in the form of liquid jet (26) in a direction parallel to the blade. The nozzle is oriented in a manner that the jet is sprayed directly on a lateral surface of the strip oriented in a direction of the extreme sweeping position. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a wiper system.
