The device (D) has a main part (1) laterally applied on a damaged zone of a hemithorax. The main part is extended by secondary units e.g. middle band (3b). The secondary units are fitted on a chest and/or around a neck and abdomen of a patient by permitting their strapping or gripping by allowing healthy zones of the hemithorax to be free. The secondary units are arranged such that expansion of the hemithorax is limited and exertion of pressure on the damaged zone of the hemithorax is authorized during coughing.
