Fire proof insulator coating (I), comprises: calcium sulfate dihydrate or plaster (40-80%); calcium carbonate (5-25%); finely divided silica and absorbent (5-20%); alkaline silicate in aqueous solution (5-20%); amphoteric surfactant (0.5-3%) miscible with alkaline silicates, under the form an aqueous solution containing a concentration of active ingredients of 1-60%; and an organic polymer (0.5-3%) hydrosoluble miscible to the sodium silicate, in the form of aqueous solution containing a concentration of active ingredients of 1-60%. Fire proof insulator coating (I), comprises: calcium sulfate dihydrate or plaster (40-80%); calcium carbonate, which is in natural or synthetic form (5-25%); finely divided silica and absorbent, which is in natural or synthetic form (5-20%); alkaline silicate in aqueous solution (5-20%); amphoteric surfactant (0.5-3%) miscible with the alkaline silicates, under the form an aqueous solution containing a concentration of active ingredients of 1-60%; and an organic polymer (0.5 to 3%) hydrosoluble miscible to the sodium silicate, in the form of aqueous solution containing a concentration of active ingredients of 1-60%. An independent claim is included for a method of protecting against fire comprising tempering (I) with water to obtain a projectable coating and the mixing rate, defined by the weight ratio of mass of solid composition/mass of water of 1-3.5.
