The differential (51) has a case (2) comprising a transversal bore for guiding two planet gears (50) that are engaged with two terminal planet wheels (28) centered on a differential axis. The planet gears are obtained by forging and machining steel. Each planet gear comprises a rear shaft (52) centered on its axis, and is guided in the bore of the case. An end of the shaft is substantially aligned on an outer surface of the case. A friction cup (24) surrounds the shaft, and is intercalated between a rear surface of the planet gears and an internal surface of the case.
