The lift has an oblong load support (1) i.e. ladder, arranged in a horizontal transport position on a roof (2) of a land vehicle. An actuation jack (9) e.g. electrical jack, is arranged on the vehicle to act on a rotating arm (6) for driving the rotation of the arm in two directions. A roller (13) is placed at a rear side of the roof such that the rotation of the arm drives tilting of the support so as to move the support along a rotational direction from the horizontal transport position to an oblique or vertical loading position at the rear of the vehicle or vice versa.
