The method involves fabricating a composite insert (12), and temporarily fixing the insert in a thermoforming mold (20). A conformed skin (26) is hot-formed in the thermoforming mold. The conformed skin is extracted from the thermoforming mold, after cooling. The conformed skin and the composite insert are transferred to a foaming mold (32) containing a support layer (2). An intermediate foam layer is molded by injecting foam between the support layer and the conformed skin. A protective layer (14) is removed after extracting the foaming mold from a semi-finished fascia. An independent claim is also included for a fascia comprising an intermediate foam layer.
