Use of one or more compounds (I) derived from chlorotriazine as an agent for protection of color during the washing of artificially dyed keratin fibers especially human keratin fibers, preferably hair, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) protecting the color during washing of artificially dyed keratin fibers such as human keratin fibers, preferably hair, comprising applying (I) or a composition comprising (I) in a medium, to the fibers; (2) dyeing keratin fibers, especially human keratin fibers, preferably hair, comprising: applying a direct dye composition (A) or an oxidation composition (A) optionally in the presence of one or more oxidizing agents, to the fibers for a time sufficient to develop the color, and preceded or followed by the application of a composition (B) containing (I) in a medium; or applying a direct dye composition (A) or an oxidation composition (A) to the fibers, where the composition (A) contains (I) in a medium; and (3) a kit comprising at least one first component comprising a composition (B) comprising (I) in an aqueous medium, and at least one second component comprising a coloring composition (A) comprising at least one oxidation dye and/or or at least one direct dye, where the two components are optionally associated with a third component comprising one or more oxidizing agents.
