The invention relates to a device for damping an opening (1) of a military vehicle during its closing and opening, said opening being integral with hinges (3) articulated with respect to an interface (2). This device comprises a tubular body (5) integral with the hinges and articulated between two bearings (4) integral with the interface, said body (5) enclosing two fixed damping means (6, 7) between which a rod (8) is interposed, said rod (8) being movable in translation to actuate one (6) damping means during the opening of the opening and the other means (7) of damping when closing the opening. The rod (8) is integral in rotation with the tubular body (5) and is connected to the tubular body (5) by means of a screw (9) with long nipple. The rod (8) is provided with a helical groove (22) in which a finger (10) integral with the interface (2) is engaged in order to impart a movement in translation.
