The device (1) has a chain (5) whose one end (9) is connected to a rear suspension element (11) to limit movement of the element and another end (7) is integrated to a vehicle structure by a reel (3) with a drum (20). The reel has return units whose force varies with respect to rotation of the drum. The return units are formed of a coil spring, a pad and a ramp carried by the drum. The pad is maintained in contact against the ramp by the spring, where return force of the spring depends on a position of the pad on the ramp that is adapted to increase the force during rotation of the drum.
