The installation has a parallelepiped shaped individual or collective cramming cage (1) comprising a bottom face (1A) forming a floor pan bordered by side faces, front face (1E) and rear face (1F). The cage has an animal support system i.e. frame (3), where the frame has an inactive configuration in which the animals freely move in the cage and an active configuration in which the animals are maintained in a limited space (30) inside the cage. The system has flexible or elastic elements e.g. straps, arranged for being applied against back of fowls in the active configuration of the system.
