The method involves providing a coating material with a visual appearance layer (3) and a reinforcement layer (4) that is coated with molten thermoplastic polyurethane and cooled, so that the polyurethane forms an adhesive layer (6). Material with the adhesive layer is cut into blanks that are stacked to form coating formats (2). A lining (7) with the formats is placed in a mold. Elastically compressible polyurethane foam precursor mixture is injected into the mold, and cushioning (1) is removed from the mold after expansion of elastically compressible foam block (8) molding the lining. An independent claim is also included for a cushioning of motor vehicle, comprising a lining molded by an elastically compressible foam block.
