The method involves acquiring an image of a scene related to back side of a vehicle, and treating the image to locate an object that is required to alert a driver of the vehicle. A pictogram is displayed in the form of contour of a visible part of reflection of another vehicle on a glass of left, central and right rear-view mirrors (1-3) to display reflection of the object, where the pictogram includes a contour of reflection of the object in the glass of the rear-view mirrors. A part of the acquired image is focused based on vision field of the driver in the rear-view mirrors. An independent claim is also included for a system for alerting a driver of a vehicle, comprising a module for acquisition of an image.
