The device (1) has a covering panel (2) with a rotatable mounting unit (3) i.e. axle, that permits mounting of the panel with respect to a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle along two configurations where a face (4) or another face (5) is turned upwards. A lifting cord (6) has an end associated with a connection part (15) of an anchoring end piece (7). The end piece is associated in rotation with the panel for permitting the passage of the connection part along a side of one of the faces. The panel has a peripheral frame (8) whose inner side is associated with a cup shaped curtain (9).
