The station has a plate (1) movable along a vertical direction and placed under a lower face of a vehicle so as to contact a lower wall (52) of a battery (5) to be replaced. The plate comprises an indexing unit indexing the battery to be replaced, where the units comprise a set of indexing studs (3) making projections from the plate and mounted movably on the plate in such a manner that the units cooperate with reliefs of the battery to be replaced. The battery to be replaced is indexed on the plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for replacing a battery.
