The structure (1) has a lower cross-piece (6) partially extending under a front part (8) of fascia (4). A space (7) is formed between the front part and the lower cross-piece. An absorption element (16) is placed in the space so as to absorb a portion of energy due to an impact that leads to a deflection of the front part of the fascia towards the lower cross-piece by deforming the element. The element is an inflatable cushion device (18) e.g. curtain airbag, provided on the lower cross-piece. The element has a cover filled with absorption material e.g. sand and balls.
