The device has a lock locking a front hood in a closed position. The lock includes a closing pin associated with the front hood. A lock latch is arranged in a pocket shaped housing (18) of a front cross-piece (12) of a motor vehicle. The pocket shaped housing is positioned in a vertical spacer area (16) of the front cross-piece by a reinforcement element that is mounted on the front cross-piece. The reinforcement element presents a cross section in a shape of a terrace or in a shape of a slope in a vertical extension. An independent claim is also included for a mounting support comprising an upper frame.
