The stair arrangement comprises a frame 2 to which a door 3 is hinged and a bias strut 14 connected to one end of a hinge arm 15, the hinge arm having its second end connected to the door at a position away from the hinge 4. A door arm 16 is connected at its first end to the door at the end distal from the hinge and its second end to the hinge arm at a point between the connections to the bias strut and the door. A bias strut and the associated mechanism may be located on both sides of the door. A hanger 20 may be located on the frame to limit the fall of the door by engaging the bias strut when the door is lowered, and a clip may engage the strut to retain it in position. A series of folding stairs portions 5a-c are preferably secured to the door.
