PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SSR primer pair for identifying cultivars of Festuca arundinacea Schreb. simply, quickly, and accurately, a specific marker gene, and a method for identifying the cultivars.SOLUTION: The primer pair is designed by using base sequences on both sides of an SSR region on a genome of Lolium multiflorum Lam. The specific marker gene is obtained by bulking Festuca arundinacea Schreb. to be an identified object to eliminate a variation of genes between individuals and specifically amplifying a cultivars-specific SSR by PCR. The method for identifying cultivars of Festuca arundinacea Schreb. includes detecting a difference in length of amplified specific marker gene fragments to identify cultivars. The SSR primer pair useful for identification of cultivars of two lines of five cultivars of Festuca arundinacea Schreb., the specific marker gene, and the method for identifying cultivars are provided.
