PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorption preventing material in which when a fiber cement board is manufactured, little addition thereof is possible, the hydration reaction is not inhibited, moreover, the water absorptivity of a fiber cement board obtained can be suppressed low, and further, strength and freeze damage resistance can be given; to provide a fiber cement board raw material slurry composition in which productivity is good, water absorptivity is low, and which can obtain a fiber cement board which is excellent in strength and freeze damage resistance; and to provide a method for manufacturing the fiber cement board, and the fiber cement board.SOLUTION: The water absorption preventing material is characterized by being an emulsion including: alkyl alkoxysilane having a weight average molecular weight of 300 or less; an emulsifier; and a buffer agent.
