PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable vacuum insulating material which is superior in processability, handling properties and heat-insulating performance, and a heat-insulating box using the vacuum insulating material.;SOLUTION: The vacuum insulating material 7 includes a core material 5 constituted by a laminated structure of an organic fiber assembly 1 obtained by forming organic fibers in a sheet shape, an end surface of which is cut so as to have a predetermined length; and an outer packaging material 4 having gas barrier property, which receives the core material 5 inside and has a seal portion for sealing the circumference of the cut portion in a range larger than the cut portion of the core material 5 by a seal length. The inside of the outer packaging material 4 is sealed substantially in a vacuum state by sealing the seal portion of the outer packaging material 4. As the organic fibers, long fibers having a length equal to or more than that of the core material 5 is used, and the organic fibers have an irregular cross section such that sectional secondary moment becomes larger than when the cross section is a circular shape.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
