PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal apparatus having a function for creating dictionary data including a proper noun adapted to an area and having a function for converting a character string into the proper noun by using the dictionary data, and to provide a method for creating a character string conversion dictionary, a character string conversion method and a program.SOLUTION: The portable terminal apparatus includes: a mobile communication control part for receiving map data including a place-name and a reading Kana corresponding to the place-name; a terminal control part for determining whether the place-name and the reading Kana are included in the map data or not; and an expansion dictionary for storing Kana-Kanji conversion data. The terminal control part is configured so as to create Kana-Kanji conversion data in which the place-name and the reading Kana are made a pair from the map data.
